Once the GLORCS has the series schedule finalized we will post our schedule hopfully in a week or two., Classes ,Times<rules will all be posted at the same time
1/18 offroad is alot of fun .Went over to Ftr micro in the USA and had a blast.Ran a vendetta, pretty durable as well.
I thought that there was only one track allowed to be open in the GTA,well thats what they think anyway.LOL
How is the hobby out that way is it growing like down in niagara,or at a stand still? It always surprises me how many tracks open and close in such an area like the GTA.
Yeah, you would think that tracks in Toronto would be very successful, and have awesome turnouts, but they don't, st. kitts has many more racers, well atleast in 1/10...1/12 turnouts are dwindling everywhere, and not just S. Ont, but everywhere in general.
Well, right now in the GTA, Fast Cats in oakville seems to own the indoor onroad - they had 170 entries for their last big race.
In downtown Toronto, the 1/18 offroad track (www.torontozees.com) has been slowly gathering more and more interest for this scale - since it's so cheap to buy a kit (i.e. $200 RTR), it's easy for an ex-R/C enthusiast to come onboard again. If this track moves to a larger unit, then 1/10 electric will happen.
There are two major outdoor tracks (for 1/8 and 1/10) projected to be in operation by the spring. One is already built and ready, we are told. Many of the 1/10th nitro and electric onroad racers (outdoor) have showed interest in switching or integrating offroad, if/when they are re-assured of tracks being open for racing.
This Hobby seems to go in cycles, in terms of interest. 1/10 offroad grew nicely in the late 80s, based on word of mouth alone. Now, we have something we never had back then - the INTERNET - spreading the word is much easier... but newer generation R/C potentials, have many other distractions at hand to deal with (i.e. video games, technology, etc..)
So maybe it all balances out in the end. Sure would be nice to see this hobby's interest grow again...
Right now the turnouts are not that good for the normal weekly races at Fastcats even though it is a fantastic facility. Niagara seems to have as large if not bigger turnouts. Some newer people in the hobby think that a big $ figure has to go with the fun part but that isn't the case. Keeping it fun, competitive pricing and not pissing people off is the only way that tracks will survive in what is really a small RC car community.
I would like to see some track run a serious mid week race night I think they could do well. If you are going to a race on the weekend many times you need to run your car to test it. There is no better way than in the heat of competition. Also, when you have a serious r/c addiction once a week won't cut it !!!! Being that we are are 44 degrees north of the equator we need good lights. That's my 2 cents.!!
Martin you going to make it to the indoor champs @ merrition on the 31st of march -2 of april.
Weeknight and Sunday racing that would be fun . Get that electric truck ready Daryll Nicholls and the boys got there electric stuff ready for a shot @ YOUR TITLE.
Sorry Matt have to work every other weekend and that's one of them. Darryl and I used to race dirt oval some off-road together. I see brushless is legal for mod now I would like to try it in my truck, and see what's like. Can,t wait till the dirt fly's.
P.s. Midweek racing should be on a wed. so you have 2 days between weekend races.
I see your trash talking for me! I've raced with Martin a bit over the years. The only times I have done exceptionally well on an offroad track is when the majority of the infield is flooded and the track turns into 3/4 dirt oval! That was at Steel Town years ago.... I remember some hot shot asking who I was
Have the classes been figured out? I need to pick up a vehicle of some kind. I don't see my XX cutting it any more. It should work for Gina to learn on though
cool... Where is the actual location of the offroad track? I have never been - can't seem to find anything on a website. Also, what month are you looking to kick off the season - end of April?

Is there a lot of interest in 4WD Electric? I have a barely used XX4 I bought when they first came out. I bet the thing only has 5 days on it... I was going to sell it to get some $$$ to buy a 2WD.... Hmm, may consider running that then. I was leaning towards a truck
Will you be holding any other big/trophy races this year besides the GLORCs race??
I'm thinking of trying 1/8 buggy this year, I have to get back to playing in the dirt! Not sure how many races I'll get too since I'll still be racing 1/8 on road, but if there is some mid week racing I might be able to come out some more. Just looking at the places I can race at before I take the plunge!
