I know it's probably a little bit early to discuss indoor racing for this winter but we are just wondering if we will have racing in Merritton this winter.
Also wondering which day it will be on. There has been some discussion that having it at night during the week would tend to attract some of those people that can't make it out on Sundays. I think the numbers would increase by at least 10 to 15 if you had it on a Wednesday or Thursday.
I'm sure this would make a lot of people's significant others happier too!!
Just thought i would ignite this topic if anyone cares!!
We will have racing forsure this winter @MERRITION.
The schedule will be like last year but there will be 3 or 4 more week night races (due to hall bookings)
We will have club trophy races and the indoor champs Plus we are in the process of setting up a series with a New track the will most likely be opening up in western new york( more to come as things get ironed out)
Also we will be running some 1/18 offroad stuff this year(more info in near future)
The only class that i would like info on is touring what do you guy want to do stock and open,or 19t and stock, or stock and 19t or 19t and open. Any feed back would be welcomed.
Have been looking for a permenet facility. If we could ever fine one we could run any night or day that we wanted or 3 time a weak for that matter.
The classes should remain the same from last year with Stock and 19turn Touring car and whatever 12th scale classes there were.
How much time during the day would be used changing the track for this 1/18th off-road class? Based on last years long race days with the 3 or 4 classes we did have; I can't see there being any more time for more classes especially ones that require the track to be changed. If the program is run more efficiently then I could see there being more time for another class. I would be all for it. I was talking with a couple other guys last night and was thinking of having an on-road pan car class...NASCAR roadcourse racing each week!!!
I know Sunday's are one of the best days for racing as most people don't have other commitments but it still would be nice to get out of there at a decent time. Last year there were some days where we didn't finish until after 6 or 7. If the racing could be done by 5 each week that would be great. If it were moved to a week night then it would have to be run more efficiently so that the racers could get home before 11.
I know there are some people that work shift work on weekends and not just during the week.
The same people helped put the track up a couple of years ago when we did race during the week or weekend and we were able to have practice by 5:30 or 6 each week.
From what I remember in years past those long cold Sundays was when we had the lowest turn out because some people didn't want to make the drive all the way there.
Yes we do get out later then the old days ,but we do alot more racing then we use to, and the number of racers have increased as well. So what we plan on doing is putting a limit on how many Qualifiers we have depending on how many racers show up. On being more effiecent, i agree, but that is a 2 way street alot of time we are waiting on racers on marshalls etc ,which i realize is a part of racing.
As for set up for 1/18 scale . it will take less time to set up then it does to get the Amain drivers to come up to marshall. WAit that includes me as wellLOL.
Remember there are no plans that are perfect and all we can do is try it and see how it works out . Main goal is to promote the hobby and have a good time.
As for battery rule ,its what ever battery which is on the market before the start on indoor
