the rb s5 is a real great motor as well as the fantom fr.21!! both have tons of top and bottom power and the rebuilds won't break your bank book!! you can't go wrong with either one

I would also recommend the SH.21 it's done me well. I know Steve at the hobby shop has them for around $240.00.

If you need help breaking that thing in I am more then welling to help

ok thanks. i may look at that one matt.....just quickly online i have come across these two. Noone has mentioned anything about OS, In perticular the OS MAX 21 VZB V-SPEC TURBO. This one is around $250 US on Ebay. The other is the RB Concept .21 WS7 II engines. This one is about $275 US. Any thoughts on these motors? Also like i said i am a pretty crappy driver so as much as i want blistering performance i still need to keep it on the track and i dont want to get pissed off because the motor has no power when i do get a little better.

I will look into that motor you suggested as well Matt. Thanks for all the replies guys, keep em comming.

Hey crappy driver,[just kidding] don`t get too excited about having some wicked engine at first, just means you may crash faster. Chances are you will be getting a second engine down the road if your going to stay in the hobby. I have seen a $220 O.S.RG turn very fast lap times at Matts track and parts are cheap.

All the advice these guys give is good, there is no need to go crazy fast at first, concentrate on driving and tunning, the speed will come.

Dont fall into the marketing trap...More power, from my limited experience will usually make you slower as you are always countering the mistakes i.e. power slides, going too deep into a corner, counter steering, etc.

Get a motor that is reliable, holds a tune well and most importantly can get parts for...Otherwise you will miss too many weekends in this all ready too short season we have.

On that note, after 13 gallons, my Traxxas 2.5r officially died this weekend (good thing the mains didn't go) as the main bearing has 1mm of slop in it and vibrated the thing appart.

I decided to go with an rb s7. I got a good deal on one and from what ive read, it seems to be quite a reliable and fast motor. I also bought a fantom works pipe, I chose this one over the jammin pipe for a few good reasons yet suprisingly price wasnt one of them. I read on there website the reasons for using steel instead of aluminum and from my expierience in motocross this made sense to me. How do they actually compare?

Im also gonna scrap my XR-3 and am looking to buy an m8 so if anyone reads this post and has one for sale let me know. I am also going to make a new thread about it as you may have seen... Dont know where im going with this except that i cant wait to get my buggy crakin....Ive ordered so many parts for it and am putting in so much time this dam thing better win ha ha ha....anyway folks ill see ya all tommorrow and heres hopin i can keep it on the track!!!
